Description
Displaying prices in your buyers currency is reported to increase conversion rates by at least 11%. But you probably don’t want to charge users in foreign currencies since then you’re subjected to currency conversion rates and your tax returns and accounting becomes way more complicated when foreign currencies go on your books.
The Multicurrencyalizer solves this by only altering the price displayed to your users. When they are charged, they will still be charged in your own store currency, and this is made clear on the hover tooltip and the currency selection overlay. This provides peace of mind for your users, and simplicity for your business.
It’s also incredibly fast. In fact, it’s faster and more scalable than any server-side currency conversion tool, since it allows the same page to be served up to every user. The currency displayed and the overlay effects are added through JavaScript which means the currency conversions happen in your users browser. It works on every device your users may visit through, including all PC, Mac, Android and iOS browsers, and even through your own mobile apps if your apps run JavaScript on the displayed pages.
What you get
The Multicurrencyalizer lets your users see your prices in their own currency. It works on any website that allows you to upload JavaScript.
For non-WordPress sites, you copy/paste the configured code we provide into your website administration interface (Squarespace site-editor, Shopify site-editor etc). Full visual guides and configuration options are provided.
For WordPress sites, install our plugin to have the code automatically added to all your WordPress and WooCommerce pages *except* for the checkout pages. The WordPress plugin also adds a currency configuration and messaging configuration panel on the back end wp-admin pages.
It is fully compatible with all payment processors since it does not actually change the price stored in the code against your PayPal, Stripe widgets etc. Instead, it simply alters what is displayed to users.
How it works
The Multicurrencyalizer adds a hover tool-tip to all prices on your site. On mobile-devices, where hover is not available, your prices will be dotted-underlined.
This hover tooltip shows your visitors the original price and informs the user that they can convert the currency if they wish by clicking.
A click on prices will bring up a full-screen panel giving access to alternative currency choices and informing the user that the prices at checkout will be in your home-store currency.
Multicurrencyalizer Configuration
Configuration is as simple as choosing your store currency and the additional currencies you wish to provide for your users.
The Multicurrencyalizer detects the users currency when they first visit your store, but if they change the currency it will remember that choice from page to page as your users shop your website.
If you do not have their currency configured, it will default to showing your store currency on first page-load.
Storage of currency choice does not use a cookie, and it is GDPR compliant.
When a user returns to your site, it will remember their previous currency choice, provided local storage has not been cleared and provided they are using the same device+browser.
All currencies are available for your admins to choose from, and we use the open exchange rates to update exchange rates every day. We update prices hourly for the pro version.
Multicurrencyalizer Pro
The pro version also provides the additional benefits:
- Hourly exchange rate updates
- Option to remove our promotional link
- Ability to change the text displayed at various points in the Multicurrencyalizer interface
- Control over hover tooltip colours and fonts, Multicurrencyalizer overlay colours and fonts and the colours and fonts of the currency selector icons.
Upgrading and Downgrading
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Your configuration interface will be upgraded when you upgrade to the pro version, and if you later decide to downgrade then your version will simply be reverted to the free version with 3 currencies, our promotional link and our default colours.
Configuration with non-WordPress websites
After purchase, you’ll find the Multicurrencyalizer configuration settings in your account area:
- Enter your website URL, e.g. www.multilingualizer.com
- Choose your store currency
- Choose your additional currencies you’d like to provide as an option to your visitors. The free version restricts you to choosing 3 currencies. There is no limit in the pro version.
- Click the button to ‘Generate code’
- Copy/paste the code to your site editor – the destination for your copied code varies per platform, and there is a visual guide for each platform in our support pages
- With the pro version, there are additional options for you to configure including complete control over the text that appears throughout the Multicurrencyalizer. The Multicurrencyalizer is fully compatible with the Multilingualizer, so if you wish to have your currency selector in your users language, you can do so using the normal Multilingualizer format
Configuration with WordPress websites
Upload the multicurrencyalizer.zip file to your WordPress plugins page and then configure your currencies, colours, fonts and messaging through Settings -> Multicurrencyalizer.
